Huangyan Island is China's inherent territory. Through media hype, repeated, irresponsible remarks by politicians and advocacy for an international judicial settelment, the Philippines aims at seeking publicity and creating an impression that there is so-called territorial dispute over Huangyan Island. This in itself is a gross violation of China's sovereignty. In the 21st century, if one country should arbitrarily make a sovereign claim on another country's territory and even try to seek an international judicial settlement over the territory as being under dispute, such a move would not only run counter to the norms governing contemporary international relations, but also seriously damage international order. We urge the Philippines to stop violating China's territorial sovereignty and stop taking any action that expands and complicates the situation.
